Source commitment

schema field source_commitment_subtype · table markets · markets.schema.json

Whether the venue committed to a concrete controlling source of record — judged from the rules text against a version-stamped rubric, independent of the venue's own quality label. Feeds a grade ceiling: illustrative caps at B; committed_secondhand, placeholder, and none cap at C. See /methodology.

TermDefinition
namedA single concrete institutional authority is the source of record (government or statistics agency, regulator, central bank, exchange, court, or a benchmark administrator with a published methodology), or a defined mechanism over multiple sources: stated precedence, or a quorum.
committed_secondhandThe venue commits to exactly one concrete, checkable source that is not an authority for the quantity — a commercial data aggregator or a single news/sports outlet as sole controlling source. A real commitment, but secondhand: no published settlement methodology, and no rule for a disagreement with the underlying authority.
uncommitted_illustrativeA source gestured at with a hedge ("for example", "such as") — a candidate, not a commitment.
uncommitted_placeholderA category, not an authority ("a consensus of credible reporting"), a menu of interchangeable outlets with no controlling rule, or a primary with an unordered optional fallback — the Venezuela shape.
noneNo source language at all.
